Central Ottawa has the widest mix of housing in the region, and the appliance situations follow from it. Centretown counted 25,687 residents in 18,291 private dwellings in 2021, a density that comes from low-rise and high-rise apartment buildings alongside the original single-family houses, with a condominium boom north of Cooper Street since the late 1990s. The Glebe was largely built before 1914, and many of those early houses were later divided into rental apartments.
