GE appliances are everywhere in Ottawa and Gatineau housing built from the 1990s onward: top-freezer fridges and coil-top ranges in apartments, GE Profile French-door fridges and slide-in ranges in suburban kitchens, and Café and Monogram pieces in higher-end renovations. Many of the older units are simple and cheap to keep running; the newer ones carry electronic controls and ice-maker assemblies that need model-specific parts.
GE Appliances has been owned by Haier since 2016 and is headquartered at Appliance Park in Louisville, Kentucky; GE-branded appliances sold in Canada are distributed under licence, so parts channels differ from the United States. About GE appliances
GE Appliances describes itself as "GE Appliances, a Haier company" with its global headquarters at Appliance Park in Louisville, Kentucky. Haier acquired the business from General Electric in June 2016. The GE name continues under licence, with the GE, GE Profile, Café and Monogram lines sold in Canada. GE Appliances publishes a model and serial number locator by product type, and notes that newer rating tags may carry a QR code. Its model numbers usually start with a letter prefix that identifies the line (for example GE Profile or Café) and a serial number whose first two letters encode the month and year of manufacture. For repair, GE's product mix ranges from very simple electromechanical ranges and fridges to electronically controlled Profile and Café units; parts availability tends to be good for the mainstream lines and more model-specific for Café and Monogram.
Finding your GE model and serial number
GE Appliances' locator gives these locations. Bottom-freezer and French-door fridges: inside the fresh-food section on the left or right wall near the top, or inside the freezer section on the side wall. Range: behind the door on the front frame; on front-control models, inside the frame under the control panel; on some gas ranges behind the rear control panel; on electric coil models under the left front element; or inside the storage drawer on the front frame. Dishwasher: left front inside edge, right front inside edge, or the right edge of the door. Front-load washer: inside the door on the wash-compartment face, or on the exterior right side at the lower front corner. Dryer: inside the front face of the dryer compartment on the left or right, with the door open. Newer tags may carry a QR code.

Parts and compatibility
GE parts are sold by model number and, for many components, by a serial-number range within the model. Mainstream GE and GE Profile parts are widely stocked in Canada; Café and Monogram parts are more model-specific and can take longer. We quote original GE Appliances parts for boards, valves, ice makers and anything safety-related, and will tell you when a comparable part is a sound option for a simple wear item. Discontinued parts on older GE units are flagged in the written finding before you decide.

Is GE still General Electric?
No. GE Appliances has been owned by Haier since 2016 and is run from Louisville, Kentucky. The GE name is used under licence. For repair purposes it is a separate company from GE the industrial firm.
Where is the model number on my GE range?
Open the oven door and check the front frame. On models with front controls it may be inside the frame under the control panel, and on some electric coil ranges it is under the left front element. Photograph it before you call.
Do you service Café and Monogram appliances?
Yes. They are GE Appliances products with more model-specific parts and more disassembly, especially built-in refrigeration. Tell us the model number when booking so we can bring the likely parts.

How long do GE parts take?
Common GE parts are often on the truck; others arrive in days from Canadian distributors. Café and Monogram parts and anything back-ordered take longer, and the lead time is in your written quote.
Are you a GE authorized service agent?
