About Speed Queen appliances

Who makes Speed Queen. Speed Queen belongs to Alliance Laundry Systems LLC of Ripon, Wisconsin, which makes laundry equipment for laundromats, multi-housing laundry rooms, institutions and homes. Alliance dates its history to Speed Queen's founding in 1908. Speed Queen's product pages say its machines have been made "right here in Ripon, Wisconsin" for more than 110 years and describe the home line as built on that commercial background.

Speed Queen and Huebsch in Canada. In October 2016 Alliance announced that Speed Queen-branded products would be sold in Canada for the first time in more than 20 years, through about 200 independent dealers in all 10 provinces. Today, speedqueen.com sends Canadian visitors to ca.huebsch.com, Alliance's Canadian home-laundry site. It lists the same families under the Huebsch badge: TR7, TR5 and TC5 top-loaders, the FF7 front-loader, DR7, DR5, DC5 and DF7 dryers and the SF7 stacked pair. So the machine in your laundry room may say Speed Queen or Huebsch. Our work is the same either way, but we order parts by the full model number on the nameplate, because a Canadian model and a U.S. model with the same series name are not always identical.

The product lines, and what they mean for a repair.

• TC5 top-loader. Speed Queen describes it as "Classic Clean" with a traditional agitator, a two-speed 1/2 HP motor, mechanical controls, no lid lock, a stainless steel wash tub inside a porcelain outer tub, a 710 RPM spin and a five-year parts and labour warranty. With no lid lock and simple controls, a TC5 fault is usually mechanical or a switch, timer or motor problem, and the diagnosis is straightforward.
• TR3, TR5 and TR7 top-loaders. All three use "Perfect Wash" and a delayed lid lock. The TR7 has an agitator, digital controls, a variable-speed 1 HP motor, an 820 RPM spin and a seven-year warranty; the TR5 and TR3 carry five and three years. Because the TR7 is electronically controlled and has a lid lock, a "won't start" or "stops mid-cycle" fault can come from the lid-lock assembly, the control or the motor. That takes testing, not guessing.
• FF7 front-loader. This has a Pet Plus cycle, a sanitize cycle and dynamic balancing, and comes with the door hinged on the left or the right. It has a five-year warranty on Alliance's current listings. Door-lock, drain-pump and door-seal faults are the usual front-loader repairs.
• Dryers. The DC5 has mechanical knobs, moisture sensing, a galvanized drum, an up-front lint filter and a five-year warranty. The DR7 adds moisture sensing with "Adaptive Cool-Down," steam refresh and sanitize, and a seven-year warranty. Steam models connect to a water supply, which adds a valve and a hose to check. Before you book. Check the breaker, and for a gas dryer make sure it is plugged in, since the drum and controls still need electricity. On a TR washer, close the lid firmly so the delayed lock can engage. Make sure both water taps are open and the fill hoses are not kinked. Spread a heavy load evenly around the agitator. On the dryer, clean the lint filter and check that the outside vent flap opens while it runs. Anything behind the control panel or cabinet is technician work.

Warranty first. Speed Queen's warranties run three to seven years on parts and labour, depending on the model, so many machines we are called about are still covered. Speed Queen's site has a warranty check by serial number and a homeowner support line, 800-552-5475. Huebsch's Canadian home site lists 1-800-561-7265. If your machine is under warranty, use the factory warranty. We will tell you if we think a job belongs to them.

Recalls. Speed Queen's recall centre says it has no recall notices. Health Canada's recall search found no Speed Queen or Huebsch home-laundry recall when we checked in September 2026.

For gas Speed Queen dryers: we diagnose gas appliances. Burner, igniter, valve and gas-connection work is done by a certified gas contractor we work with, not by our own technicians.

Finding your Speed Queen model and serial number

Alliance Laundry Systems' parts site lists where the model and serial nameplate may be on each machine type:

• Top-load washers (TC5, TR series): top of the control panel, under the lid, back of the cabinet, rim of the tub, or the front or side base of the unit.
• Front-load washers (FF7): door frame, inside the door, back of the cabinet, rim of the tub, or the front or side base.
• Front-load dryers: door frame, inside the door, back of the cabinet, or the front or side base.
• Stacked washer-dryers: the washer or dryer door frame, the front of the cabinet, inside either door, or the front or side base.

Speed Queen's manuals portal only needs the model number, and its warranty check uses the serial number, so write both down. The retail name, such as TR7003WN, is short, but some Canadian nameplates carry a longer Alliance code, such as AFNE9BSP113CW01. Photograph the whole nameplate when you book. Parts and compatibility

Alliance sells genuine Speed Queen parts through its parts site, parts.alliancelaundry.com, and through certified parts dealers, which Speed Queen's support page helps you find by postal code. We source parts through Canadian channels where we can and quote each part by the nameplate model number, not the series name. A Canadian Huebsch-badged TR7 and a U.S. Speed Queen TR7 from a different year may not share every part.

Typical Speed Queen repairs involve lid-lock and lid-switch assemblies, drain pumps, water valves, drive and motor parts, door locks and door seals on the FF7, and belts, idlers, thermal fuses, heating elements and moisture sensors on the dryers. Because these machines are meant to last, a repair usually makes sense even when a major part is needed.
