Who makes Dacor. Dacor was founded in 1965 in Southern California and stayed family-owned for three generations. Samsung Electronics America announced on 10 August 2016 that it would acquire Dacor as a wholly owned subsidiary and said Dacor would keep its brand and its U.S. manufacturing. Dacor's product-registration page today lists a Samsung e-mail address for Dacor customer care, and its registration form accepts Canadian provinces. Dacor's Canadian site sells three families: cooking, refrigeration and dishwashing.

Collections, and why they matter for repair. Dacor's current Canadian site groups products by style: Contemporary (minimal, sleek) and Transitional (contemporary lines with professional touches). Earlier Dacor products were sold as Professional, Modernist and Heritage collections. The collection changes where the serial tag is, which control board the appliance uses and which parts fit, so we look up the whole model number rather than the collection name.

Features that change a repair.

• Dual-fuel steam ranges. Dacor's 36-inch (91 cm) dual-fuel steam range DOP36C86DLS pairs a gas cooktop with an electric oven. Dacor lists brass dual-valve, dual-ring burners from a 750 BTU simmer to 22,000 BTU, steam-assisted cooking in the oven, a "Dual Four-Part Pure Convection" system and a 4.8 cu ft (about 136 L) oven. It needs a 240/208 V, 50 A circuit. On a range like this, oven elements, convection fans, sensors and the control board are electrical repairs we handle. The burners, igniters and valves are gas work.
• Touchscreen and Wi-Fi. Dacor's recent ranges and ovens use a 7-inch (18 cm) Wi-Fi LCD touchscreen, with SmartThings integration for remote preheat and monitoring. When a Dacor oven will not start, the first question is whether the fault is in the display, the control board or the heating side. A frozen or blank screen is not always a failed board, and we test before quoting one.
• Combination wall ovens. Dacor describes its 30-inch (76 cm) combination wall oven as having an upper oven that combines microwave and convection. The microwave section is technician-only: its internal parts hold a dangerous charge even when unplugged.
• Panel-ready refrigeration and dishwashers. Dacor asks for a separate panel kit model number (for example RAC, RAW, RAF, RAT or DW) for any model beginning with DRR, DRF, DRW, DDW or DRZ. A door that drops, rubs or will not seal on a paneled column can be the panel or its mounting, not the refrigerator.
• Wine units. Dacor's wine refrigeration has three separately controlled temperature zones and what Dacor calls Precise Cooling Technology. One warm zone with the others normal points us to that zone's controls, fan or sensor first.

Recalls. We searched the Government of Canada's recall database (open dataset, updated 24 September 2026) for Dacor and found no Dacor recall listed. Check it again with your model number if your range or oven is behaving in a way that worries you.

Gas. We diagnose gas appliances. Burner, igniter, valve and gas-connection work is done by a certified gas contractor we work with, not by our own technicians. If you smell gas, leave the home and call your gas utility from outside; our gas smell guide explains what to do next.

Finding your Dacor model and serial number

Dacor's product-registration page has a serial tag placement table by product and collection. In summary:

• Ranges. Professional: through the intake vents, the grille directly below the knobs; Dacor says dual-fuel serial numbers begin with F, gas with K and induction with J. Contemporary and Transitional: through the intake vents, or underneath the Dacor logo on the bottom of the door. Dacor suggests holding a phone under the logo and taking a picture with the front camera.
• Wall ovens. Professional: through the intake vents below the knobs; serial numbers begin with V. Contemporary and Transitional: the bottom left-hand corner of the unit. On a double or combination oven the tag is in the lower oven.
• Cooktops. Professional: on the underside (gas serials begin with M, induction with T). Contemporary and Transitional: across the front frame. Dacor notes that once the cooktop is installed you cannot reach this tag, so use your invoice, the registration card or the manual.
• Dishwashers. Professional: the right-hand side of the frame with the door open. Contemporary and Transitional: across the top of the door.
• Hoods: behind the filters (Professional serials begin with H). Microwaves: across the front frame on countertop and over-the-range units; behind the drawer on the 24-inch microwave-in-a-drawer; on the right side of the chassis on the 30-inch drawer (serials begin with X). Warming drawers: at the bottom back of the front panel (serials begin with W).
• Refrigeration. For models starting DRR, DRF, DRW, DDW or DRZ, also note the panel kit model number.

Parts and compatibility

Dacor parts are sold by exact model number, and many are specific to one collection: control boards, touchscreens, convection fan assemblies, igniters and burner parts, door hinges and the panel hardware on built-ins. Since Samsung's acquisition, Dacor parts and factory service go through Dacor's own customer-care channel, which Dacor lists at 833-353-5483. Older Dacor models from before the acquisition can be harder to source. Where a part has been discontinued, the written finding says so rather than leaving you waiting.

Two things are outside our scope and the finding will say when they apply. A range that trips its breaker because the 50 A circuit or receptacle is faulty needs a licensed electrician. For a column refrigerator, the refrigerant side follows the same rule as any fridge: We diagnose the sealed system; the refrigerant work itself is done for us by a certified refrigeration technician.
