About Whirlpool appliances
Whirlpool Corporation describes itself as "the only major U.S.-based manufacturer of kitchen and laundry appliances" and lists Whirlpool, KitchenAid, JennAir, Maytag and Amana among its major brands; Whirlpool Canada's parts site also lists Inglis alongside them. Whirlpool's Canadian site (whirlpool.ca) publishes a model and serial number locator by appliance type, and its product-help site gives more detailed locations by configuration.
For repair, the shared engineering across the Whirlpool family is the main point. Direct-drive and belt-drive top-load washers, vertical-modular washers, the dryer platforms and the common dishwasher chassis appear under several brand names with different badges, so a technician who knows one knows most of the others. Whirlpool appliances use model-specific electronic controls on newer units and electromechanical timers on many older ones; both are repairable.

Dryer: inside the dryer door, on the rim of the opening (ventless dryers: behind the water tank). Stacked laundry: inside the dryer door. Built-in dishwasher: on the left side of the tub frame. Top-freezer, bottom-freezer and French-door fridges: inside the fresh-food compartment on the left-hand side; side-by-side: on the right-hand side. Upright freezer: right-hand side near the top; chest freezer: left interior side wall. Range: on the oven frame or the storage-drawer frame. Cooktop: rating plate on the underside. Built-in oven: top of the oven cavity. Over-the-range microwave: front frame with the door open. Range hood: behind the left filter on the rear wall.

Parts and compatibility
Whirlpool-family parts are among the easiest to source in Canada because the same components serve Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana and Inglis models. That does not mean every part is interchangeable: control boards, lid-lock assemblies and door gaskets are matched to the model number. We quote original Whirlpool parts where fit or safety matters and tell you when a comparable part is a reasonable option. Parts for appliances over about fifteen years old may be discontinued; the finding says so before you decide.
Whirlpool questions
Where is the model number on my Whirlpool top-load washer?
Lift the lid and look at the tub rim, usually toward the back or one side. On front-load washers it is inside the door on the rim of the opening.
Is my Whirlpool washer the same as a Maytag or Kenmore one?
Often, mechanically. Whirlpool builds appliances for its own brands and has built some Kenmore models. That is useful for parts, but the model number still decides which part fits, so we always work from the label.
Do you repair older Whirlpool direct-drive washers?
Yes. They are simple, well documented and usually worth repairing when the fault is a coupler, pump, lid switch or timer. The written finding shows the repair cost next to a replacement estimate so you can decide.
Can you fix a Whirlpool gas dryer or gas range?
Yes, with a certified technician. Gas work is never done by anyone else on our team, and we do not give gas-line advice over the phone.
How quickly can you get Whirlpool parts?
