Who Hisense is. Hisense is headquartered in Qingdao, Shandong, China. It began in 1969 as the Qingdao No. 2 Radio Factory and took the Hisense name in 1993. In 2018 it became the majority shareholder of the Slovenian appliance maker Gorenje, which also brought the Asko brand into the group. Hisense Canada runs its own support site, service-request form and warranty service here.

What Hisense sells in Canada. Hisense Canada lists refrigerators (the PureFlat French-door and top- and bottom-mount lines, plus compact fridges), freezers, ranges, dishwashers, wine and beverage coolers, laundry and microwave ovens. A few details from its product pages matter for repair:

• Laundry is 24-inch and connected. The washers are 24-inch front-loaders with steam wash and Wi-Fi through the ConnectLife app. The matching 24-inch dryers use ventless heat-pump technology and can pair with the washer. Its lint filters need regular cleaning, as the owner's manual describes. The heat-pump circuit is a sealed refrigerant system: we diagnose it, and refrigerant work is done for us by a certified refrigeration technician.
• Ranges are electric. The ranges on Hisense Canada's range page are 30-inch electric freestanding and slide-in models with true convection, air fry, pizza modes and steam cleaning. Air fry and convection depend on a rear fan and element, which are often among the first parts checked when baking goes uneven.
• Dishwashers. Current models include top- and front-control 24-inch built-ins with adjustable third racks, one rated at 44 dBA, and older models with Steam Wash and Vortex Wash.

Recall check. In June 2022, Health Canada posted a recall of 78 Hisense 26.6 cu. ft. (753 L) bottom-freezer French-door fridges, model RF26N6AFE with specific serial numbers, because a door hinge could break. The fix was a free hinge replacement arranged through Hisense Canada at 1-855-344-7367. If you own that model, check the recall notice with your serial number before booking any repair.

Before you book. A few checks are safe to do yourself and sometimes solve the problem. Check the breaker and that the appliance is plugged in firmly. On a fridge or freezer, confirm the temperature setting has not been bumped, that the door closes flat against its gasket, and that nothing inside is blocking the vents. On the 24-inch washer, make sure the taps are open, the hoses are not kinked and the load is not all on one side. On the heat-pump dryer, clean the lint filters. On a dishwasher, clean the filter at the bottom of the tub. An unplug-and-wait reset of a few minutes can clear a frozen control. Anything behind a panel, any burning smell and any refrigerant or live electrical work is for a technician.

Finding your Hisense model and serial number

Hisense Canada's "Find my model number" page gives these locations. Refrigerator: inside the fridge section, where two labels sit on the left side of the inner cabinet, with a backup label on the bottom rear of the fridge. Freezer: inside the freezer, with two labels on the left side of the inner cabinet and a backup label on the bottom rear. Range: on the left panel of the bottom drawer (pull the drawer out to see it). Dishwasher: on the right inner cabinet of the dishwasher door. Hisense warns not to use a number starting with WQP as the model number.

Hisense says repairs usually need the model, the serial and, in some cases, a batch number, so photograph the whole label, not just one line. Hisense Canada's page does not list a label location for washers, dryers, wine coolers or microwaves. For those, check the owner's manual or the label wherever you find it, and text us a photo. Parts and compatibility

Hisense appliance parts are model-specific and come through Hisense Canada's parts and service channels. For in-warranty repairs, Hisense Canada takes service requests online, and its form asks for the model number, serial number, warranty status and a receipt. For out-of-warranty units, Hisense directs owners to its authorized service centres and notes that inspection, parts and service charges on an out-of-warranty unit are not controlled by Hisense. On a compact fridge or an inexpensive unit, a sealed-system or main-board fault can cost more than the appliance is worth.
