Kenmore appliances are still common in Ottawa and Gatineau homes that bought from Sears before it closed in Canada: top-load washers and dryers in basements from Gloucester to Aylmer, Kenmore Elite French-door fridges, dishwashers, ranges and a great many chest freezers. Newer Kenmore freezers, wine cellars and major appliances have returned to Canada through Costco since 2024.
Kenmore is a brand, not a factory. Kenmore appliances have been built by Whirlpool, LG, Samsung, Electrolux and others, and the first three digits of the model number tell us who made yours. About Kenmore appliances
Kenmore began as a Sears house brand in 1913 and is now owned by Transformco (Transform SR Brands), which describes it as "a top appliance brand for 100 years." Kenmore has never manufactured its own major appliances; they are made to Kenmore specifications by other companies, including Whirlpool, LG, Samsung, Electrolux and Panasonic. The first three digits of a Kenmore model number, the source code, identify the manufacturer. In January 2024 Kenmore announced a return to Canada through Costco, starting with freezers and wine cellars and followed by refrigerators, dishwashers and ranges.
For repair, this means a Kenmore washer with a 110 prefix is diagnosed and repaired as a Whirlpool washer, a 795 fridge as an LG, and so on. The brand itself tells us nothing about the design; the prefix tells us almost everything. Kenmore's own site does not publish a model-label locator, so we rely on the manufacturer's conventions.
Finding your Kenmore model and serial number
Kenmore does not publish a single label locator, and the label follows the manufacturer's convention for the platform. [MODEL LABEL LOCATION TO VERIFY FOR Kenmore — no manufacturer page found; suggested wording follows.] In practice: on Whirlpool-built Kenmore washers (prefix 110) the label is under the lid on the tub rim or inside a front-load door; on dryers, inside the door on the rim of the opening; on fridges, inside the fresh-food compartment on a side wall; on dishwashers, on the door edge or tub frame; on ranges, on the oven frame or storage-drawer frame. LG-built Kenmore units (prefix 795 for refrigeration, 796 for laundry) follow LG's locations. Look for a label with both a model number and a serial number, and read us the full model number including the three-digit prefix.

Parts and compatibility
Kenmore parts are the underlying manufacturer's parts, ordered by the full Kenmore model number. Whirlpool-built and LG-built Kenmore parts are generally available in Canada; parts for Kenmore units from manufacturers that no longer supply the brand can be harder to source. Because Sears Canada is gone, there is no Kenmore parts counter in Ottawa or Gatineau; we source through the same Canadian distributors as for the manufacturer's own brand. Who made my Kenmore appliance?
The first three digits of the model number identify the manufacturer. Give us the full model number when you book and we will tell you before the visit.
Sears is gone. Can Kenmore appliances still be repaired in Ottawa?
Yes. The parts are the underlying manufacturer's parts and come through normal Canadian distribution. Warranty claims on older Sears-era units are a different matter and are outside what we can help with.
Where is the model number on my Kenmore washer?
On most top-loaders, lift the lid and check the tub rim or the back of the opening. On front-loaders, check the rim inside the door. If you cannot find it, check the back panel.
Do you service the new Kenmore appliances sold at Costco?
Yes, as out-of-warranty independent service. In-warranty service on those units goes through Kenmore's Canadian warranty contact, which is on your Costco receipt or the Kenmore site.
How long do Kenmore parts take?
It depends on who built the appliance. Whirlpool- and LG-platform parts are often on the truck or available in days; others can take longer, and the written quote gives the expected time.
Are you a Kenmore authorized servicer?
