LG is one of the two mainstream brands we see most often in Ottawa and Gatineau kitchens and laundry rooms, usually French-door fridges with an ice maker, front-load washers with matching dryers, and electric ranges bought as a package. Most are between two and twelve years old, which is exactly the window where a fan, a sensor or a compressor relay is worth fixing and the rest of the appliance is fine.
Two LG technologies come up in nearly every visit: the Inverter Linear Compressor in refrigerators, which LG backs with a 10-year parts-only warranty, and the Inverter DirectDrive motor in washers. Both change how a fault is diagnosed and what the repair costs, and our technicians work on both. RepairWell is an independent repair service. About LG appliances
LG Electronics is a South Korean manufacturer that sells a full line of major appliances in Canada through LG Canada. In refrigeration, LG's Canadian site describes the Inverter Linear Compressor as delivering "motor force to the piston in a straight line without rotating" and states a 10-year warranty on the compressor (parts only). LG pairs this with LinearCooling temperature control. In laundry, LG markets the Inverter DirectDrive motor, which couples the motor to the drum without a belt.
What this means for repair: a linear-compressor fridge that stops cooling is diagnosed differently from a conventional one, because the compressor, its control board and the sealed system have to be separated before anyone quotes a part. On washers, a direct-drive fault usually points at the stator, rotor, hall sensor or main board rather than a belt. LG appliances display error codes on the panel; the meaning of a code depends on the model, so we look it up against your model number rather than guessing.
Finding your LG model and serial number
LG's support pages give these locations. Refrigerator: inside the fridge, on the right-hand side of the liner, or on the left-hand side on newer models. Front-load washer and dryer: a silver label on the front panel behind the door, around the drum opening, usually at the top. Top-load washer: a silver label on the back toward the top, under the lid, or on the side panel near the top. Dishwasher: on the right side of the door when opened. Range: on the left side of the door or drawer frame, behind the oven headboard, or beneath the upper lip of the oven opening. Wall oven: on the underside of the control panel. Cooktop: on the front of the bottom panel under the counter, or on the underside. Microwave: LG shows the location in an image only; on most units it is inside the door frame or on the back.
Have the full model number (for example the letters and digits on the label, not the marketing name) ready when you call; it lets us bring the right part.

Parts and compatibility
LG parts are model-specific, particularly control boards, compressors and door assemblies. A part for one LG French-door model will often not fit a similar-looking model from a different year. We use original LG parts where the repair calls for them and quote them on the spot; the 10-year compressor parts warranty is LG's, not ours, and any claim under it goes through LG. Parts for LG models sold in Canada more than about ten years ago may take longer to source or may no longer be available, and the written finding will say so before you commit to the repair.

My LG fridge is still under the 10-year compressor warranty. Should I call LG or you?
LG's 10-year compressor coverage is parts only, and the claim is made through LG. If you want the compressor replaced under LG's warranty, contact LG Canada first. If you want an independent diagnosis so you know whether the compressor is actually the problem, we can do that for $89 and give you a written finding to take to LG.
Where is the model number on my LG washer?
On front-load washers, open the door and look at the silver label on the front panel around the drum opening, usually at the top. On top-load washers, check under the lid or on the back panel near the top.
Do you work on LG ThinQ smart appliances?
Yes. The Wi-Fi features run through the same main control board we diagnose for any other fault. We do not set up or troubleshoot the ThinQ app itself, but a board or sensor problem that shows up as a connectivity error is a normal repair.
My LG washer shows an error code. Can you tell me what it means over the phone?
Some LG codes are consistent across models and some are not, so we will not guess. Tell us the code and the model number when you book and the technician will arrive with the likely parts on the truck.
How long do LG parts take to arrive?
It depends on the part and the age of the appliance. Common LG parts are often on the truck or available within days from Canadian distributors; older or less common parts take longer. The technician gives you the expected lead time in writing with the quote.
Are you an LG authorized service centre?
