Samsung dryer error codes

The code groups below come from Samsung Canada's dryer error code guide, which Samsung says applies to dryers sold in Canada. The Vent Blockage test steps are from Samsung's U.S. support site. Samsung notes that an upside-down F in a code is meant to be a t, so a code that looks like an upside-down F-S is tS. Codes vary by model; check the user manual for your model number before acting on one.

Some displays are not faults. Samsung describes the Filter reminder as appearing after every load whatever the filter's condition, Child Lock as disabling all buttons except Power and the control knob, and the Smart Care icon as letting you diagnose a code with your phone's camera.

What's specific to Samsung dryers

• Clogged vents and heat. Samsung says some of its dryers detect a clogged vent and turn the heater off to prevent heat-related problems, while others keep producing heat and leave the clothes damp. Samsung describes lint in the exhaust as a fire hazard, especially in bends and around the outside vent, and advises rigid venting cleaned once or twice a year. Its U.S. page adds that older models do not reduce heat when the vent is clogged, so a hot dryer with long cycles is the case to take most seriously. See our dryer vent safety guide.
• Sensor Dry and very long cycles. On Sensor Dry, Samsung says the dryer lengthens the cycle while it still detects moisture, and in severe blockages the cycle can run indefinitely because the moist air has nowhere to go. A Time Dry cycle, by contrast, simply ends with damp clothes. Either pattern points to the vent before the heater.
• Vent Blockage test. On models that have it, Samsung's U.S. instructions are to start with an empty, cool drum and a closed door, press Power, then within 5 seconds hold Adjust Time Up and Dry Level until InS or In appears, then hold Start/Pause. The test takes about 2 minutes; 0 or End means the ducts are clear. Button combinations vary, so check your manual.
• Voltage codes and cross-border dryers. Samsung notes voltage errors may occur when a dryer is used outside the country it was intended for. If a dryer was bought outside Canada, tell us when you book.
• Gas models. We diagnose Samsung gas dryers. Burner, igniter, valve and gas-connection work is done by a certified gas contractor we work with, not by our own technicians. If you smell gas, leave the house and call your gas utility from outside.

Recalls and notices

We found no Health Canada recall of Samsung clothes dryers when this page was reviewed in September 2026. We searched the Government of Canada Recalls and safety alerts site and its open-data export, which held records to 24 September 2026. The Samsung listings there cover slide-in electric ranges (2024), certain top-load washers (2016), over-the-range and RV microwave ovens, and phones, not dryers. A keyword search of the whole export for dryers returned hair, pet and grooming dryers, not clothes dryers from any brand.

A recall is a formal safety action published by Health Canada. A service bulletin is a manufacturer's note to technicians, and a complaint is an owner's report; neither is a recall. If you have a safety concern, search recalls-rappels.canada.ca with your model number.

When to book

Book when a heating or temperature code returns after the lint screen and vent are clean, when a door, communication or other code persists after a restart, or when the vent test still shows a blockage after cleaning. Stop using the dryer and book if it smells of burning or runs hot and slow at the same time. Tell us the code exactly as shown (remember an upside-down F is a t), the model number, and whether the dryer is electric or gas. The diagnostic is $89, waived if you go ahead with the repair, with a written finding and quote before any work. If the dryer is under Samsung's warranty, contact Samsung Canada first.
